Barnes Cohen & Sullivan cares about our community. That’s why we are beginning a series of consumer tips of the month. Our goal is to help our community find the best vendors and be aware of scams. This month’s consumer tips are from Glenn Cohen.
- Beware of Scam Calls: Anyone can be a victim scam calls. If you receive a call from an individual claiming to be with social security, or another organization asking for personal information, do not respond. If you have any doubt, call the organization asking for information yourself to find out if they have truly contacted you. Never give out your credit card information or social security number to anyone who calls you unless you are 100% convinced. And even then, I still wouldn’t do it. If you are sure a scam call is being made, you can contact the Jacksonville Sherriff’s Office Non-Emergency Line to report it.
- Home Security: If you need home security, we would advise not to use Safe Touch. My system was struck by lightning and the system began beeping all day and continued through the night. I could not get a service call for over 12 days despite advising Safe Touch that I was awakened every night by the constant beeping. Find someone else!
- Food in Jacksonville, Florida: If you are looking for a great hot dog at the beach, go to Hot Dog Hut on 3rd street in Jacksonville Beach! The owners are incredibly nice, the service is fantastic, and most importantly, the hot dogs are off the chart!
