Jacksonville-Daycare Abuse
A Jacksonville Daycare worker was arrested for Child Abuse. A Daycare employee was caught on camera physically and verbally abusing a toddler. The daycare worker was seen slapping the child’s bottom, holding the child’s face down on the mat, dropping the child roughly on the mat and yanking him by the leg. This same daycare worker was seen on camera using profanity and verbally abusing the children. Authorities who viewed the surveillance video believed the daycare worker was rough with the children and exhibited criminal behavior.
The owner of the daycare uncovered this abusive behavior after she viewed the daycare center’s surveillance, she called the police and fired the employee. Police viewed the video and arrested the 23-year-old daycare worker.
Daycare Abuse is on the rise as Daycare facilities compete with increased wages at restaurants and retail stores it has become increasingly difficult to hire and keep trained, caring staff. Tragically even with cameras present a baby in Florida suffered fractures to his legs after a daycare worker pulled the one-year-old from a swing and dropped him on the floor. Shortly after that incident, she was caught on the same camera slapping the boy. Another worker in the same room witnessed the abuse and did nothing to report it or protect the child. Fortunately, it was all caught on camera the police have charged both ladies in the abuse of this child.
Child Abuse is tragic, everyone has a responsibility to report Child Abuse. Some occupations are required by Florida Law to report Child Abuse. Occupations considered to be “professionally mandatory reporters” include Teachers and other School Personnel, Doctors and other Healthcare Workers, Daycare Owners and Daycare Staff, Law Enforcement. The list varies in each state.
The child in the Jacksonville Daycare incident did not appear to have any outward physical injuries. If you suspect your child has been a victim of child abuse or neglect, take them to their pediatrician immediately, even if there are no outward signs.
